Hi Scott,
Thank you so much for considering moving the Wednesday, April 29th Rotary meeting to Monday, April 27th at Hope Village.
The Community Economic Development Committee (CEDC) will be hosting Small Business Week for the third year and we are grateful to have had Rotary as a partner since the beginning. This year we are consolidating the event into one “jam-packed” day on April 27th!
Just a few highlights: We will kick things off with some time for networking at 11a, followed by lunch service at 11:30a. Our first speaker, Brian Freedman with BAHEP, will begin shortly after noon. There will be some break-out sessions following the speaker, allowing participants to have the opportunity to work in smaller groups on various topics of interest. At 4p we will have the opportunity to hear from our key note speaker, Ryan Walsh with the Houston Sports Authority. There is a great deal of excitement around FIFA coming to Houston in June and Ryan will share some invaluable insights.
We will wrap things up with a Happy Hour around 5p.
As you can see it will be a full day and we’d be honored for Rotary to be a part of it again!

Friendswood will be hosting the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) program called “Bringing Back Main Street” on April 29th at city hall. The program began about 10 years ago and meets quarterly in small towns around the 13-county region, each sharing their stories of downtown revitalization efforts. Friendswood hosted previously in 2018 and has provided speakers since, namely, Rotarian, Brett Banfield and Deputy City Manager, Steven Rhea.
At the upcoming April meeting, we will have several Rotarians presenting, including Mike Foreman, Sally Branson, Brett Banfield, Rebecca Hillenburg and Luis Briones. Would love for our club to come and support their fellow Rotarians, and possibly learn a few things about our community they didn’t already know.
The (free) event will kick-off with breakfast and networking at 9:30a and wrap-up just in time to grab a bite of lunch in downtown Friendswood.
